The Cine-Files

In case you didn’t know, the holidays aren’t easy and nothing was easy about recording this episode. Between stomach viruses, sick kids, busted travel plans and stressful holiday parties, The Cine-Files had to work extra hard to record this episode with our special and generous guest, animation executive Michael Ross. Not going to lie, this episode went a little off the rails but Steve and John, both needed a good laugh and they 100% got it. We hop you will too.

We had so much fun in our last conversation with Scott Mantz about Star Trek: The Motion Picture that we thought it would be fun to revisit our very first episode with him as a guest way back in February of 2017, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. 

There is so much love for Star Trek between John, Steve and their special guest, Scott Mantz that they couldn't contain it in one episode. So, here is part two of their exploration of the first time their favorite series made it to the big screen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Happy Halloween everyone! The Cine-files is tackling another great, horror icon. Last year it was Michael Myers and Halloween. This year we enter the dreamscape of Elm street and the terrifying world of Freddy Krueger. 

This week on The Cine-Files John and Steve go back to the silent era to admire one of the greatest physical comedian of all time in what is widely considered to be his masterpiece. The General is an incredibly, well crafted, entertaining and even thrilling film, with physical comedy that still defies imitation.

In 2004 Will Farrell and Adam Mckay made the first feature film of their long partnership and it is one of the funniest movies of late 2004 (give or take)

Last week it was John's guilty pleasure and this week it's Steve's turn with Bruce Lee's 1972, Directorial Debut, The Way of the Dragon. With a pretty lame plot, and low budget, and use of stereotypes, there is plenty about The Way of the Dragon that could make Cine-Files dismiss it. However, one cannot over estimate Bruce Lee's impact on martial arts, action films and culture in general. He was, to put i simply, a cultural phenomenon and many (including Steve) would argue that Way of the Dragon is his most personal film
