Mississippi Burning is not easy. The topic is difficult, The action is painful and the action is painful and the controversy around the film is as revlant today as it was over thirty years ago. Steve and John, along with special guest David McKenna, don't shy away from this difficult topic and instead dig in to issues as complicated as they are important.

This week, The Cine-Files welcome screenwriter David McKenna (Blow, S.W.A.T. & American History X) to discuss one of his favorite films, the brilliant, controversial and difficult, Mississippi Burning, directed by Alan Parker and Starring Gene Hackman and Willem Defoe.

Happy Holidays Cine-Files. John and Steve were in the mood for some warm and fuzzy feelings, so they grabbed some tights, opened up some syrup and started singing loud and strong for all to hear.

Things turn darker in the second half of The Untouchables but John Rocha and Steve Morris aren't worried because special guests, Shannon McClung and Stephen B. Jones are there to help them navigate the twists and turns of this fantastic film.

n honor of Sir Sean Connery who we lost a few weeks ago and Ennio Morricone who we lost a few months ago, The Cine-Files is going back to prohibition era Chicago, where four honest cops will take on the most dangerous man in the country, Al Capone. 

Joining John and Steve on this journey are Geek Buddy Shannon McClung and storyboard artist Stephen B. Jones. 

This week on The Cine-Files, we honor Director Alan Parker with the film that brings us more joy and more great music than any other North Dublin Soul movie you can think of.

Happy Halloween Cine-Files and welcome to our annual journey into the world of horror films. This year we are tackling what is, arguably, the scariest movie of all time, William Friedkin's The Exorcist based on the William Peter Blatty novel.

After the great Gayle Sayers died a few weeks ago John and Steve's mind's immediately turned to the 1971 film, Brian's Song but they weren't really sure if this 74 minute TV movie was worthy of an episode of The Cine-Files. Well, after a viewing and a a couple of boxes of tissues they decided that, yeah, this movie was more than worth and the ensuing discussion was well worth the time. 

Well here it is, the epic conclusion of our three part exploration of Marvel's Black Panther in honor of Chadwick Boseman with special guests Jay Washington and Winston A. Marshall.

However, we felt that simply entering the world of another great film was not enough this time. We wanted to do more, so The Cine-Files has partnered with The National Children’s Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to helping families through their most challenging moments.

This is an incredibly worthy cause and The Cine-Files is grateful for all of your help.

There are some episodes where Steve and John laugh a lot and some episodes where they get into heated debates. There are even some episodes where they get so excited about the movie they are reviewing that they just can't contain themselves. Well, in part two of their exploration of Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby, Steve is so moved that he is literally holding back tears for most of the episode.

My guess is, no one working on Major League back in the late 80’s could possibly imagine how beloved this baseball, underdog story would become but the fact is, Major League is a fantastic movie with great characters, great comedy and an absolutely fantastic climactic game.

Way back in October of 2018 The Cine-Files were joined by writer, director, Kay Cannon to discuss A League of their Own. That's when Kay made us promise to have her back if we ever do Major League. Well, it took a while but it's finally happened. A conversation so powerful it had to be split into two parts. 

In Part 2 of their discussion of Patton, John and Steve discuss, leadership, military tactics, honor, glory and the Cold War. Those are big topics but Patton is a big movie. 

She was a star in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Her first role was in Max Reinhardt's A Midsummer Nights Dream in 1935. She signed a deal with Warner Brothers and appeared in some of their most important films of the thirties including Captain Blood and, of course, The Adventures of Robin Hood. Her role has Melanie in Gone with the Wind brought her her first Oscar nomination. She lost that year to Hattie McDaniel but that didn't stop her form winning two Oscars later in her career. Her name was Olivia de Haviland and with her death at the age of 104 we've lost our last living connection to the Golden Age of Hollywood. To Honor her, John and Steve have recorded a new introduction to one of their favorite episodes, The Adventures of Robin Hood with special guest, Joe Mantegna. 

This week  The Cine-Files begin their exploration of the strange, complicated and powerful film, Patton. Winner of seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Actor, Director and Screenplay, Patton is the story of an American war hero who is as brilliant as he is controversial. Played by the incredible George C. Scott in one of the most captivating performances in film history, the character of Patton is as enigmatic as he is compelling. 

This week on The Cine-Files, we honor the great Carl Reiner with an exploration of his 1977 classic, Oh God! starring John Denver, Teri Garr and the great George Burns. Written by Larry Gelbart (M*A*S*H, Tootsie) Oh God! is a witty, wise and deeply compassionate film that is as profound today as it was 43 years ago. 

The birth of the American nation was not an easy one and in part 2 of their exploration of the musica,l 1776, John and Steve dig into the meaning, compromises and sins of our independence.

or the Fourth of July this year, John and Steve looked around for the most patriotic movie they could find and what could be better than, the musical, 1776 that focuses on those incredible moment in Philadelphia when a new nation was burned. 

To make matters even more interesting, this is one of John's all time favorites and Steve has never seen the film before. 

John and Steve go seriously deep In part two of their exploration of Christopher Nolan's mind bending, heist movie, Inception. This movie is anything but straight forward and the deeper they went the more theories, contradictions, ambiguities and paradoxes they found. 

Back in January we asked you which 2010 film you wanted to to review first on The Cine-Files and it wasn't even close. The overwhelming response was Christopher Nolan's Mind Bending heist movie, Inception. The boys had a great time breaking down this one and probably no one is surprised that it will be stretching into two parts. 

This week on The Cine-Files we go back to 1945 for Brief Encounter, the final collaboration between playwright Noel Coward and a director who will become one of the greatest of all time, David Lean. Brief Encounter is regarded by many to be one of the greatest romantic films of all time. 

Anyone who listens to The Top Ten Show knows that this is one of John's favorite movies. Well guess what? Steve loves it too and they have a fantastic time talking about this 1981 best picture winner on the show. In fact, that they had so much fun they had to split it into two episodes.

This week on The Cine-Files, John and Steve strap on their six shooters and return to the town of Silverado. This is one of their favorite westerns. It's beautifully crafted, has a wonderful cast, a fantastic score and incredibly satisfying ending. 

n honor of the great Brian Dennehy, Steve and John saddle up for the old west and one of their favorite western, Silverado. 

Grab your cape and shield, do a few crunches and join John and Steve on an adventure through what is arguably the most testosterone filled movie of all time. There are a lot of adjectives people use to describe Zack Snyder's adaptation of the Frank Miller Graphic novel, groundbreaking, offensive, ridiculous, thrilling, visually stunning, or totally fake. But whatever your opinion there truly is nothing like 300. 

Field of Dreams is a very special movie for both Steve and John, with deep, personal connections to both of their lives. In this episode, they talk about their relationships to their fathers, their dreams and how profoundly this film touches them every time they watch it. 

Right now all of us are living in a world that seems very strange and even scary. At times like this, we often turn to film s that are warm and comforting. Few films fit that description better than the 1989 baseball classic, Field of Dreams. 

This week on The Cine-Files, John and Steve honor the great Max Von Sydow with the film that introduced him to the world, Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal.

ohn and Steve have a lot to say about Part 2 of Spartacus and a few crazy stories about Kirk, Stanley, Dalton, Lawrence, Jean and Peter. 

In honor of the great Kirk Douglas, who we lost last month at the age of 103, Steve and John are digging in to one of the great epics in the history of film, Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus. 

Hard to imagine more fun on The Cine-Files than a whole month adventuring with Indiana Jones and special guest Shannon McClung but sadly it's all coming to an end with this hilarious, heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest adventure films of the 80's. 

Once Shannon, John and Steve start talking about Indiana Jones they find it very hard to stop. In fact, their enthusiasm took them right over Temple of Doom and into the third installment of the trilogy, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. This is a fantastic movie which continues the tradition of excitement and adventure while adding new depth and character development.
