On this episode of The Cine-Files, Steve Morris, John Rocha and writer, producer, and Geek Buddy Michael Vogel bring you Part 3 of their deep dive into 1978's classic superhero film SUPERMAN from director Richard Donner. We did this movie as our third episode of the show and we thought we'd give it the full, current Cine-Flies treatment in honor of James Gunn's SUPERMAN hitting theaters. The film stars Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Ned Beatty, Valerie Perrine, Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman with an incredible score from John Williams. It depicts the origin of Superman, including his infancy as Kal-El of Krypton, son of Jor-El (Brando), and his youthful years in the rural town of Smallville. Disguised as reporter Clark Kent, he adopts a mild-mannered disposition in Metropolis and develops a romance with Lois Lane (Kidder) while battling the villainous Lex Luthor (Hackman). It was nominated for four Academy Awards and won for Best Visual Effects (Special Achievement). Steve, John and Michael go thru the movie scene by scene to break down the direction, acting, storylines, cinematography, score, action sequences and more.
